The Labor Day holiday weekend is nearly here! It’s the perfect time for working folks and their families to unwind, celebrate, and reflect on the hard work that makes our world go round.

While many of us are looking forward to the long weekend, filled with barbecues and some well-earned relaxation, there’s much more to this holiday. Let’s dive in.

Labor Day Trivia

As you get ready for the Labor Day festivities, why not spice things up with some fun trivia?

    • The Parade That Started It All. Labor Day’s origins can be traced back to a grand parade in New York City, in 1882. The event was organized to provide a platform for workers to showcase their contributions. It was such a big success that it inspired other regions to hold similar events, eventually leading President Grover Cleveland to establish Labor Day as a national holiday in1894.
    • From Parades to Backyard Barbecues. Though the original Labor Day celebrations centered around parades and speeches, the holiday has evolved into a more relaxed affair. Today, Labor Day is synonymous with outdoor activities and family gatherings – and it marks the unofficial end of the summer season.
    • The End of the Hot Dog Season! Labor Day also marks the unofficial close of hot dog season in America. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day last year, Americans consumed a staggering 8 billion hot dogs! Before your grill cools down for the fall, this is the perfect time to savor one last hot dog. And don’t forget to catch the hot dog eating grudge match between Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi, airing live on Netflix this Sunday!
